Saint-Tropez is one of the most iconic wedding destinations in France, loved for its authenticity, sun-soaked climate, and glamorous atmosphere.

It’s the #1 hotspot for destination weddings in the country.

But planning a wedding in Saint-Tropez can be a real challenge, and very expensive, without proper preparation.

I’ll be honest: to me, Saint-Tropez is the most beautiful place in the world.

I was born here. My whole family lives here. And this village is full of hidden gems only locals know…

You should start planning your wedding here at least a year in advance (or even earlier!) if you want to book your dream venue, secure trusted local vendors, and arrange accommodations for your guests.

If you’re not local, I highly recommend hiring a Saint-Tropez-based wedding planner to guide and coordinate every detail of your celebration.

From luxury villas to boutique hotels, private beaches to boats, the options are endless, depending on your budget and availability.

My personal recommendations

Every time I book a wedding couple, I give them a curated booklet listing the top wedding professionals in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez: caterers, florists, DJs, musicians, planners, videographers, hair and makeup artists, and even magicians, trusted experts I’ve worked with for 13 years.

Weddings in Saint-Tropez come with a high-end price tag, so set a clear budget and discuss rates with your vendors early.

  • Certificate of No Impediment: Foreigners must obtain one from their home consulate in France, translated and certified in French.
  • Residency Requirement: You or your partner must live in Saint-Tropez for at least 30 days before the wedding.
  • Submit Documents: Passport or ID, birth certificate, and divorce papers (if applicable).

It’s best to contact the local mairie of Saint-Tropez for full, up-to-date info.

A local wedding planner can also help simplify the process.

Religious ceremony in Saint-Tropez

Want a church wedding? You’ll need to meet extra requirements beyond the legal ones.

Saint-Tropez has one main church and several chapels:  Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption,  chapelle Sainte-Anne, and  chapelle de la miséricorde

Steps to follow:

  • Provide a recent baptism certificate

  • Complete marriage prep (counseling, spiritual retreats, etc.)

  • Fill out administrative documents and ID proof

  • Coordinate your wedding date and time with the parish

  • Organize the ceremony details with the priest (readings, music, prayers)

Church weddings here are in high demand — book early!

Say Saint-Tropez... Not "Saint-Trop"

Yes, we locals do cringe when people shorten our beloved village’s name.

We’re proud of our heritage.

Every May, Saint-Tropez comes alive for La Bravade, a 3-day celebration honoring our patron saint, Saint Torpes.

The town turns red and white, filled with processions, traditional costumes, fireworks, music, and parades.

AD USQUE FIDELIS

  • Our motto: "Ad Usque Fidelis " ("Faithful until the end.")

  • Our colors: Red and white, inspired by the Republic of Genoa.

  • Our story: Saint Torpes, a Roman officer converted by Saint Paul, was executed in 68 AD.

His body, placed in a boat with a rooster and a dog, washed ashore here, giving birth to the name of our village.

In summary

Getting married in Saint-Tropez is an unforgettable experience — if it’s well planned.

With the right team and a bit of local guidance, your dream Riviera wedding can become a beautiful, joyful, and magical reality.
